Frequently Asked Questions

What is AppCircle?

AppCircle is an intelligent, mobile application cross-selling network for the App Store. It was designed to solve discovery, drive new user acquisition and increase revenue for application developers.

Who should use AppCircle?

AppCircle should be used by any publisher of free or paid iPhone games and apps interested in acquiring new users and earning more revenue.

How does AppCircle work?

Using Flurry Analytics, which measures how consumers use a large number of applications across iPhone, Flurry AppCircle then recommends relevant apps within other apps the consumer is using.

Do I need to use Flurry Analytics to use AppCircle?

Yes. AppCircle recommends the right app to the right user based on which apps that consumer uses. To do so effectively, Flurry Analytics is required. This ensures the best end user experience and most revenue for participating developers.

What is a recommendation engine?

A recommendation engine collects end-user data (e.g., category of application used most often, length of use, geographic location, purchase habits, etc.) and calculates the next most attractive application that a user does not yet own. That application is then recommended to the end user.

Can I make money recommending other developer's apps?

Yes. AppCircle recommends apps within other apps, and if the cross-sale happens from within your app, you share in the revenue.

How does everyone get paid?

Promoters set the price they are willing to pay for a new user download. After the AppCircle recommendation engine generates a list of relevant apps calculated to appeal to the user, bid prices are used to rank the order in which recommendations will be presented. Bids are set by Promoters starting at a minimum of $0.75. Publishers keep 60% of the bid price paid by Promoters for each download they drive to the App Store.

Is AppCircle just another ad network?

Not at all. AppCircle is a cooperative cross-promotional network among applications developers. Your app is recommended to end users based on a matching persona we build through our analytics platform, in the apps that match their interests.

How do cross-sell recommendations appear inside apps?

They can appear in a number of ways including a banner at the top or bottom of a screen, or on interstitial pages. Flurry will continue to develop different recommendation impression units.

How can I get AppCircle?

If you don't have an account with Flurry, first create one. Then download and integrate the latest Flurry Analytics SDK with your application. Integration takes minutes. AppCircle can then be enabled. If you already use Flurry Analytics, you need to download and integrate the latest SDK with your app.

Can I block specific apps or app categories from appearing inside my apps?

Yes. Flurry offers you the ability to filter out directly competing apps, publishers, and categories if you prefer. However, because users use all different kinds of apps, AppCircle will still deliver relevant recommendations.
